Theo Jansen's Ingenious Walking Sculptures

J. showed me Theo Jansen's Strandbeest site a few weeks ago and I've been meaning to share it since then. Theo Jansen, in my estimation, is certainly in the realm of genius for creating these incredible walking sculptures out of old pop bottles, plastic tubing and bicycle pumps, among other things. These huge beach creatures are self-propelling and use the power of wind to 'walk' along the beach. I urge you to check out the videos on the StrandBeest site (also on You.Tube, I believe) to see how these 'creatures' move as they are truly beautiful and awe-inspiring to watch--I can only imagine what it would be like to experience in person.
